daft punk.

So, being in Jerusalem, I have been out of the loop when it comes to anything music/movie/TV related. Apparently the movie Tron is a big deal now. I had no desire to see it, until I heard Daft Punk did all the music. How rad is that?
Listen to the main theme here. I can't stop listening to it.

mittens.

It won't stop snowing here in Magrath today. When that happens, mittens are always on my mind. Though these are a few years old and completely sold out, maybe I can recreate them on my own?

christmas break.

The thing about Christmas Break is how much free time I find myself having. Sometimes, I don't know how to handle it. This break, I've spent the majority of my time watching Modern Family or shopping on Etsy. Here are my favorite finds:

Vintage Carry All.

Owl Things.

Leather Bag.

Everything in my friends Nathan and Katie's store.

Thanks Etsy for solving my boredom problems!

Yad Vashem

In West Jerusalem, there is a Holocaust museum called Yad Vashem. It was amazing. Outside of it, there are hundreds of trees planted, each one in commemoration of a non-Jew who helped out Jews in the war. This picture is right beside Oskar Schindler's tree, who just so happens to be buried in Jerusalem as well, because of his love for the Jewish people.
I loved this moment. I love Jerusalem.

Over. Night. In Denver.

Going on hour 40 of traveling.
Right now, Steph is sleeping and I have jet lag. AKA I am wide awake at 3:30 in the morning.
Can't wait for 9 AM to hit to catch our connection to Calgary.
Before leaving Jerusalem, I didn't want to go home. It so ends up that one plane gets delayed from a bout of weather, and the other leaves without us on it, and the next isn't until the morning. Not going home for another night= wish granted. Moral: Careful what you wish for.

Chagall Windows.

So beautiful. In a synagogue in a hospital, of all places. This photo is contraband, so don't tell Mark.

frienship street.

Friends, Joclyn and I, on the happiest cross walk on Earth. We may have almost been hit by a mini van while getting this picture, but it was worth it. Also, I was so happy we are still friends, after a full day of me dragging Joce around West Jerusalem. Thanks lady for being my friend.

walking where Jesus walked.

Literally. These are the steps right outside of the Temple Mount Wall. Newly excavated. And from the time of Christ. He most likely walked here. So cool.
Me and Sis Ohman, the classiest service missionary in the center.

Monster Slide

One of the best final moments of Jerusalem?
Running into this Monster Slide by accident while going to see some Chagall stained glass windows. It may be made for kids, but I had more fun at it than any 5 year old.
Look at those faces. Pure joy.

It's been a while.

But I'm back!
Not home quite yet, but in the Denver Airport. Let's just say a little spout of bad weather caused Steph and I to miss our flight to Calgary, and the next one isn't until the morning. Any ideas how to spend 14 hours in the Denver Airport? Also when you're wide awake due to jet lag and sleeping all day on the planes anyway?

busy.

School has been crazy here.
We have finals in a week, which means a bunch of my classes will be over and I'll have more time to blog.
In the meantime, read my bestie Tessa's blog. She's hilarious and sometimes features pictures of yours truely.

schwarma

Eating schwarma in a cave in the Old City. Cool atmosphere. Not the best one I've had here however.
I hope there's a schwarma place in Salt Lake. I'm addicted to it and will have a hard time living without it when I leave.

Sinai.

We hiked Mt. Sinai in the dark to be on the top at sunrise. Totally worth it.
ps Tessa-this pic is for you.

Thinking about life and stuff.

Egypt.

Me and Tessa at Hatshepsut's temple.
Muhammad Ali Mosque. My personal fave of Cairo. Totally beautitful inside, great view outside. Win win.

Night train from Luxor to Cairo with my roommate Alison. It was pretty good, minus the steward knocking on our door at 4 AM until I opened it. No joke, he knocked for 15 minutes straight.
Tom's and Sphinx go together great.

 Being Ramses in Memphis

Matching hates with Talia at the step pyramid. Our teachers made us wear them since it was so so hot.
Me and the Pyramids. No big.

Cardo. Yo.

At the Cardo under the Old City, Jewish Quarter.
Tessa, me, Steph, and Matt.

Garden Tomb.

Me and my roommate Tarah at the Garden Tomb.
Kind of blurry. Don't worry about it.

wishing.

I dropped a Canadian dime into a well in the West Bank for good luck.
I hope it works.

Glam.

At my fave pottery store in the Old City.

churches.

I went to the Church of the Ascension, which is pretty much next door to where I live in Jerusalem.
This is me and my girl Ann.

I'm on a wall.

I did that Ramparts walk, where you walk the Old City's wall.
I loved it.

Jerusalem.

Not an awesome picture, but one view from my balcony here in Jerusalem. We live in Mount Scopus,  right near the Mount of Olives. You can see the Old City Wall in this picture. And that's a pomegranate tree on my balcony. No big.

luke.

Definitely missing this little guy today.
Flossing his teeth. Not a big deal for this 1 year old.

adorable.

Yes, even though I'm overseas, I'm still keeping up with all my favorite things. And hopefully posting some photos of my adventures as well.
This necklace totally goes with my love for all things sewing and clothes. Hey, I'm a girl.
here.

I made it!

And I'm safe. It definitely is stepping into another world over here is Isreal, but I love it.
And for some reason, the internet here won't let me add pictures on here.
I'm sorry. Some to follow soon.

dearest kate, again.

Favorite picture from Kate's wedding, that I just so happened to have stolen from her brother.
Congrats again Kate! Love you.

so in love.

This stump necklace by Digby & Iona is to die for. Totally reminds me of a huge tree that we had in my backyard while growing up, then had to be cut down and all that was left was a stump.
It can also be customized with your initials. So adorable.
Too bad I have been penny pinching all summer to afford my semester away.

dear kate.

This week, my dear friend Kate was wed! We did everything together our freshman year of college and I definitely don't think I would've made it through that year without her.
Congrats Kate!
I love this pic of us so much. Freshman year. She's a bit too tall for me.

I can't get over the topper.

more house stuff.

For more house remodel inspiration, read this blog. I love it, more than words.

And to keep up with the color theme I have going on, a wonderful picture.
It has been saved on my desktop for so long, I don't remember where I found it! If anyone knows, please let me know so I can give them their cred.

bathroom

Is it bad that I have hundreds of pictures saved for inspiration when I have my own house, even though I am nowhere near to having it?
I love this bathroom.

just pretty.

I love everything about summer. Especially fresh flowers.
They just smell so lovely.
From here.

Yup, it's official.

I'm going to Jerusalem for 4 months to study and travel.
I leave August 31st.
I can't wait.
I will be living here while I'm there. How awesome does it look at night? Eek.
